M E D I T A T I O N

Meditation could be said to be voiding the mind of all thought, yet that is not the essence of the idea. Because no thought is about the same thing as "NOT thinking of a pink elephant": the moment your ears hear the words, the region of the brain where pink elephants are stored becomes active! No, meditation is more about observing the thoughts that do occur, and letting them go: you do not need to board the train of thought, but merely sit at the station watching the trains go by.

More precisely, it is a matter of acceptance of what comes in, recognizing it, and letting go. Some thoughts will be easy to accept, others may require some more feeling, but eventually everything can be accepted for what it is…
